About Polyweld
Hello, we are Polyweld Machinery. We sell, service and hire premium quality plastic welding equipment, tooling, accessories and consumables. Established in 2003, we have grown to become one of the most comprehensive and diverse suppliers to the plastic welding industry in Australia.
In 2022, Polyweld Machinery celebrates 20 years of supplying Australia with premium quality plastic welding technology from some of Europe's leading manufacturers. We are proud to be partnering with:
- BAK (Switzerland) hot air tools, extrusion welders, automatic hot air and hot wedge welders and testing equipment.
- RITMO (Italy) butt-fusion welders, electrofusion welders, socket welders, fitting fabrication welders and pipe tooling and accessories.
Where it all began.
Managing directors Wayne Freeman and Wendy Freeman commenced their first business in 1983, Polyweld's sister company Freeman Industries (formerly Bobway Electrics). Specialising in electrical repairs to power tools, pumps, generators and electric motors, Bobway Electrics built a reputation upon quality service and integrity.
Over the following years, Wayne developed considerable experience in the servicing of Leister hot air welding equipment, and saw an opportunity for the establishment of a dedicated plastic welding equipment supplier in Western Australia, one which could provide a level of technical expertise and after-sales care to match the quality of the machinery. In 2003, Polyweld Machinery was launched.
Initially based around the Leister TRIAC hot air welder, the product range housed at Polyweld soon grew to take in a broader range of extrusion and automatic welders, servicing a range of industries and applications. The logical progression from sheet and membrane welding equipment was pipe welding machinery, which is when the Italian-made Ritmo range of butt-fusion, electrofusion and socket fusion welders were introduced into Polyweld's range.
A family business.
Ben relocated to Melbourne in 2014 but continues to be involved in the marketing and strategy for Polyweld and the other companies operated by the Freeman family. A life-long learning addict (Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Business Administration, Master of International Relations), Ben recently completed a PhD in Australian foreign policy.

Our welding equipment covers hot air, extrusion, hot wedge, butt-fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion and other specialised applications. The machinery range is complemented by a huge array of welding nozzles, shoes, hand tools, pipe scrapers, clamps, cutters and generators to supply the power requirements of our welders. A range of testing equipment (air pressure, vacuum, infrared thermometry, tensile testing) is available for welding quality assurance, and the consumables inventory covers plastic welding rod, plastic sheet, pipe fittings, and specialised inserts for plastic applications. All of our equipment is supported by an in-house service workshop, staffed by qualified electrical specialists with extensive knowledge of the repair and maintenance of plastic welding machinery. In a vast country like Australia, where welding work is often undertaken in remote locations, technical back-up and premium service is essential.
